putting down roots

Membership

The North County Newcomers Club is an association of men and women, couples or singles, who have lived in North San Luis Obispo county for less than three years. We meet for lunch on the first Wednesday of every month and participate in a variety of activities which enable us to get better acquainted with each other.

Please see the Join In page for information on how to join. If you're already a member, but need to update your contact information, go to the Members Only Link, then select Change of Address.

Organization

The North County Newcomers Club is dependant on volunteers to keep the organization alive and vital. The Board of Directors is responsible for management of the club and meets monthly at Centennial Park. Six board members are elected officers; President, 1st Vice President (Programs), 2nd Vice President (Membership), 3rd Vice President (Luncheons), Secretary, and Treasurer. The Parliamentarian is a non-elected officer. The eleven remaining members are standing committee chair persons; Activities, Chairperson-at-large, Grapevine, Historian, Hospitality, Newsletter, Publicity, Sunshine, Reservations Team, Ways & Means and Webmaster. See the FAQs under Board Business for more details on each role. Serving on the Board of Directors is a wonderful way to really get to know some of your fellow Newcomers! To find out more, contact the NCNC President.

General Meetings and Luncheons

The monthly luncheons and business meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month. This is the main event for the Newcomers club and all members are strongly encouraged to attend. A variety of venues and speakers are arranged to better acquaint the membership with their community. We also welcome alumni, guests of members, and visitors who want to explore club membership. The price of admission, including lunch, will vary depending on the venue.

This is the place to get a first hand look at what the club is doing, to participate if you choose, to encounter old friends and make new ones. It's really the essence of what the Newcomers Club is all about. There is some official business presented, a good lunch, and an interesting speaker on a topic of broad local interest. The general flow is:

11:00amSocial Hour
NoonGeneral Meeting, Lunch and Speaker

Unless otherwise noted, reservations must be made no later than 8:00 PM on the Tuesday of the week preceding the luncheon (8 days prior to the luncheon). Individuals may attend up to three luncheons as guests but are then required to become members if they wish to continue. If you have any questions, contact our Reservations Chair.
