putting down roots

Membership

The North County Newcomers Club is an association of men and women, couples or singles, "new" to North San Luis Obispo county.  Residents may join the club if they have lived in the north county for less than four years. Once joined, membership continues for six years after which members become alumni and my continue to enjoy the benefits of the club as long as dues are paid.

We meet on the first Wednesday of every month and participate in a variety of activities which enable us to get better acquainted with each other.  Click on the Activities tab to view our Activities groups.

Please see the Join In page for information on how to join. If you're already a member, but need to update your contact information, go to the Members link, then select Change of Address.

Organization

The North County Newcomers Club is dependent on volunteers to keep the organization alive and vital. The Board of Directors is responsible for management of the club and meets monthly at Centennial Park. Six board members are elected officers; President, 1st Vice President (Programs), 2nd Vice President (Membership), 3rd Vice President (Luncheons), Secretary, and Treasurer. The Parliamentarian is a non-elected officer. The eleven remaining members are standing committee chair persons; Activities, Chairperson-at-large, Grapevine, Historian, Hospitality, Newsletter, Publicity, Sunshine, Reservations Team, Ways & Means and Webmaster.  If you are interested in volunteering to be a board member please contact the club president.

General Event Meetings

The monthly event and business meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month. This is the main event for the Newcomers club and all members are strongly encouraged to attend. A variety of venues and speakers are arranged to better acquaint the membership with their community. We also welcome alumni, guests of members, and visitors who want to explore club membership. The price of admission, including lunch, will vary depending on the venue.

This is the place to get a first hand look at what the club is doing, to participate if you choose, to encounter old friends and make new ones. It's really the essence of what the Newcomers Club is all about. There is some official business presented, a good meal, and an interesting speaker on a topic of broad local interest. Information on these meetings can be found on the Events tab.

Unless otherwise noted, reservations must be made no later than 8:00 PM on the Tuesday of the week preceding the event (8 days prior to the event). Individuals may attend up to three events as guests but are then required to become members if they wish to continue. If you have any questions, contact our Reservations Chair.
